The African American Cultural Center keeps children creatively entertained, culturally enlightened and educationally motivated during the summer months with its Jumpin' Jambalaya Summer Program. Each June through August, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, the day camp serves City of Buffalo families with children ages 5 through 12. All children receive instruction in African Dance, African Drumming, Theatre, Chorus and Etiquette/Health. The curriculum also features "electives" such as Library Resource Hour, Storytelling and other special projects - photography, doll making, journalism and ceramics. Tuition includes breakfast, lunch and field trips. Each camp ends with the traditional AACC Unity Day, a family celebration of what the children did over the summer. The AACC Jumpin' Jambalaya Summer Program is certified by the New York State Department of Health. Some children may be eligible for tuition assistance through the Erie County Department of Social Services Child Care Unit.
